The Spirit of a Tree

My experience of a tree spirit

This is quite a long story!

I have included as much background as I could, to create a fuller picture of my experience.  I hope at the very least it is an interesting story and perhaps you may find aspects that you can connect to and are relevant to your own "Tree Experiences!"

Above are images of my very loved Willow tree.

The image on the left with all the mushrooms around the base is the most recent.  You can see that the tree is "poorly" as my dad used to say.  Sparse foliage, pale leaves and generally unwell.

The image on the right is older, taken from a different angle, but showing the tree flourishing.  It was always one of my favorite spaces in my garden and I would take the opportunity to "touch" one of its long weeping branches whenever I walked past.  It calmed me and made me feel safe somehow.

My early memories of Willows were always full of fear.  I didn't understand why, they just frightened me.  I would never go near one alone, by choice.  In my child's mind, ghosts lived in them.  I had a definite sense of "other beings" being present around them, and I was frightened by the unknown.  I was surprised to learn that this fear followed me into adulthood and I would get the shivers just driving past a line of willows along a roadside, even into my twenties.

The first time I encountered a willow that did not give me this feeling was at a "Tree Farm".  The Willow was enormous, healthy and when under its canopy there was a sense of protection.  I bought one to plant for my children.  So that they would be able to feel this same sense of safety when playing in our own yard.

The Willow grew quickly and under its weeping branches was a space that my three elder children would crawl into and sit.  Like a natural Cubby.  Shaded, cool, protected and private.  This is where they took their cakes and biscuits and cordial to have picnics.  It made me happy.

When we moved, the very first tree I planted at our new house was another Willow.  The same Willow pictured above.  It grew fast and again was a wonderful energy to have in our yard.

After the floods of 2011/2012 the Willow began to show signs of sickness. It never recovered its vigor.  I stubbornly ignored the signs and hoped for the best. One Sunday morning a few months ago my husband was taking one of our children to sport and before he left he asked me to have a good look at the Willow when I got a chance and imagine the space,  if it was gone.... no pressure, just think about it!

I had never discussed any of my "Willow experiences" with him, but he knew I would resist cutting down any tree, so I guess he was "planting a seed" so to speak, to begin the process of acceptance of the end.

The process of "Letting Go" of something that I valued.

Later that same morning, I was outside, around the opposite side of the house to the Willow, with two of our children, when our dogs began to bark and ran around to the other side of the house, as they do when a vehicle arrives.  I had not heard an engine and asked the boys if they had heard someone come?  One of them thought maybe a truck had driven in, which was strange on a Sunday!

I walked around to meet whoever had arrived, the dogs barked madly all the while.  I couldn't see a vehicle and thought maybe they had pulled up below our shed, out of view, so I walked out of the yard and down the outside of the fence.  The dogs were silent now, and everything seemed very still.  I had an uneasy feeling and wondered who I was going to find.

There was no vehicle, and as I realised this, I also noticed that while the air was very still on my side of the fence, inside the yard the wind was blowing hard.  Again I felt like something was happening that I did not understand and as always, this made me feel uncomfortable.

I walked back inside the yard to the boys and asked were they sure they had heard a vehicle, as there was none there? The dogs began to bark excitedly again and took off around the side of the house.  This time I followed them immediately.  When I arrived on the far side of the house, our three dogs were  surrounding my Willow, a fair distance back, and looking towards it, barking loudly, as if someone was there.

I sat down a distance back and watched.  As I did, the wind picked up again and a large whirlwind blew around the tree, lifting its long branches directly up into the air.  It was a very impressive sight.  A few of the long branches broke off and as the whirlwind moved away, out of the yard and towards the hay shed, it took these Willow branches and left the tree in stillness again.

The dogs stopped barking and trotted away.

I felt quite upset and realised it was time to release my resistance and made my mind up to let my husband remove the tree.   I berated myself that he was able to look and see that it was sick and needed to be removed while I had to have some sort of "Spiritual Experience" before I was willing to accept the same.

A few weeks later (before the tree had been removed), I mentioned the experience to a friend, as we were walking through my garden, past the Willow.  She stopped and looked and me and said "So you saw the Spirit leave the Tree, like the Buddist's believe?"

She explained that if a Buddist is going to remove a tree, they ask the spirit of the tree if that is OK, and if so, the Spirit of the Tree, will leave, so that the tree can be removed.

I realised in that instant that I had been present, when my lovely Willow tree Spirit left and my dogs had actually witnessed it leave.  I felt a sense of peaceful acceptance.  An ending.

I think I have learn what I need to know, from Willow, for now at least.  This experience also made sense of many other similar tree experiences.  For me all trees are guardians.  Nature Spirits inhabit some of them.  These can also be referred to as "Spirits of place".  These Nature Spirits also appear to me as clear or blue orbs, like big bubbles floating in the air.  Very cool, but a little unsettling the first few times I saw them!

According to "Falling Leaf Essences", Willow energy supports the Kidneys.  It helps to release toxins and rebalance.

As a Kinesiologist, Kidney meridian blockages can be about unexpressed fears and anxieties.

As a child, I definitely felt my own fears triggered by being near Willows.  Willow showed me my unaddressed fears and activated these fears.  For as long as I can remember I often felt the presence of unseen energy, and was frightened.  I would not walk to my own bedroom or go to the bathroom, without humming loudly, so that I couldn't hear anything or anybody else.  There was never an actual person there, and to be able to hear noises and sense something and not have an acceptable explanation was frightening and isolating.  The fear of the unseen was almost always with me.  To be very clear, I want to stress this was not a fear of the dark (I like the dark, I find it soothing), but a  fear of the unseen.

Then later as a mature adult, when I came into contact with Willow,  I discovered it's positive energy.  The opposite feelings of safety, feeling protected, especially within the psychic field of the tree, under its canopy.

My reason for writing about these experiences, which to many might seem far fetched and strange is to support anyone, particularly children, who may have similar experiences.  It is wonderful to be able to remove the fear and bring in feelings of safety, protection and support.   We cannot reduce our intuition/sensitivities, but we can be supported to accept ourselves and even feel strengthened by our individuality.

This happens as we allow ourselves to "know" the unknown.  To have the courage to accept our "Truth", and know that while it may not be everyone's truth, it is a part of the whole truth that makes up the human experience on this planet.

Nature is my rock, my constant. I am grounded in a natural environment in a way I never can be when in an urban setting.  I trust nature, even through my fears.  I can receive and grow from experiences I have in the natural world. Nature can hold me while while taught or assumed beliefs fall short of my actual experiences and  rather than projecting onto others, or spinning into overwhelm, I can slowly integrate these new realities into myself and allow my personal truth a space to live within myself.

Integration, even of seemingly un-explainable events, is so much better than dis-empowering yourself by rejecting your own experiences and therefore a part of yourself. These denied experiences represent aspects of yourself  that you will eventually will have to accept and "Call home" to be whole.

Wishing you Wholeness and sending you Willow Love and Protection.

The passing of time

Time is such an interesting concept and it can be relevant within a kinesiology session, depending on the protocols being used.

An imbalance in our energy system, if left unaddressed, often presents as pain in our body. We can track this imbalance back to the age we were when we had the experience that brought about the imbalance. Inability to completely deal with the experience then causes us to lock the associated imbalance into our energy field/ body to be dealt with later... or not.

The more we lock in and don't go back and heal, the more imbalance, or disease that may be presenting in our physical self.

The body "talks to us" if not through refined sensory communication (which is ideal), then through stronger and stronger mayday signals in the form of pain, inflammation and eventually even chronic disease etc..

The idea of "age recessing" with a client is to track and gain access to the root cause of the energetic imbalance by using time and age as they are the common way we explain the passing of the now, that elusive moment to moment series of experiences that together we call our "life".

I remember the first time I became aware of this tracking system we call time. I believe I was about 7 years old. It was the start of the school term I think. I would have been beginning grade 3. These details are a bit hazy. The moment of understanding though, is very clear. I remember the classroom, I remember where I was sitting, I remember the sunlight from the window looking really bright. It was one of those snapshot moments from your life. At the time you don't realize it's importance, but some part of you, your higher consciousness maybe, records it in full color and slow motion for ease of later reference!

I was being asked to write the date on the top of the page. I think I must have rushed ahead and written 1979. It was 1980. I was asked to change it, and the teacher went on to explained why. The concept of a year! They changed! Who knew! Up until then I was just complying. Copying from rote off the board with no understanding that this date i.e. 30 January 1980 had a meaning and was how we tracked the passing of time!

What a revelation! It was mind boggling to me at the time. A real discovery. We had a code for each day that passed, a filing system that we could always go back to. What a fabulous idea! Very left brain logic.

So, even though this whole time thing is so cool, I never use it in my sessions.

The reason I tend not to use "Age Recessing" is that I am more dominantly right brain, for want of a better description, once I am start working with a client energetically. Non-linear, creative. I work with color, sound vibration, images and most definitely feelings and emotions.

I personally have found that the human body and its energy fields (aura), don't necessarily file things in time order.

Our conscious mind (the part that is easy to access) likes the idea of time filing. I believe that if the problem was sitting here, we would have sorted it already!

The part we want to access in sessions is usually the unconscious or subconscious. Which is the huge part, like the rest of the iceberg that sits under the water. You know it's there but can't see it, it's murky down there! It works more with images, shapes, color, sounds, symbols, feelings. Think of dream work and how you decipher dreams, they are symbolic, they are metaphoric, very personal and able to be interpreted through your own framework of beliefs and values.

The filing method for your body is much more complex than a simple timeline. Almost always in my sessions events are dealt with in order of the emotional charge attached to it. The higher the charge, the higher the priority to heal. In fact, you can gather up that same stored emotion from other events and clear it at the same time, without having to go into left brain too deeply and name each event and attach many "stories" to the blocked energy. As long as you have a story, something for the mental self to align with, and complete willingness of course, you can clear the energy of the major incident, and any other blocked energy filed under that same feeling.

Children are the best at this! Their attachment to the importance of the story and a need for a defined logical processes for healing is much less. Their belief system less rigid. They allow themselves to "Let Go" of whatever is causing them pain. They are willing to be pain free from then on. No buts, no justification, they are masters at forgiveness, both of self and others, you clear the energy, and they simply let go of everything that is holding it in place or could bring it back in. Simple. They allow themselves to Heal.

As adults we often have a very strong attachment to our mental body, and the years we have spent building and believing "our stories". Replaying them in our minds, justifying our role them, laying down stronger feelings of blame or victimhood. It is a little like a web. In the beginning, whatever has created the blockage is potentially just a feeling, stored in our emotional body. Over time, we connect this blocked energy to our mental body and eventually it becomes a blockage in our physical body. It is now connected to us on many levels, tendrils move out from the core, from the actual event and embed themselves into our energy fields on many levels.

Depending on how we communicate with ourselves, whether the stories we tell ourselves are positive or negative can make time our friend or he may be working with our self sabotaging mental patterns against us. This is an interesting question to ask yourself... Is time my friend? Either way, the thing to remember about time is that it passes. Nothing is forever.

We have choice in every moment. Through our choices in the "now" moment we can shape the future and "let go" of our past. This is the aim of mindfulness and meditation. To teach you to stay in the present moment, where all choice is made.

This is also what I aim for in a session.

To acknowledge and let go of the past, pain and any beliefs that are causing imbalances in your energy field and to help you harness the power of now by connecting to the deeper parts of yourself.

And for me, within this framework, time is irrelevant. It doesn't matter how long something has been in place, we can change anything, anytime. We come to things when we are ready, in our own good time and any time is a good time to change for the better!

Daily Grounding Ritual

4/11/2017

This is a fast, simple and effective Grounding Process that I encourage you to include in your morning rituals. Please use it mindfully, using your breath as described to align with your own energy and the energy around you. Enjoy!

1. To begin, stand with your feet shoulder width apart and take a few deep breaths, while visualising a thick gold chord dropping down from your body into the earth.

2. Feel the weight of this chord pulling you down and anchoring you within the protective energy field of the earth. I find it helpful to allow this chord to pull me into the earth so that I visualise myself standing in a cave, below the earth's surface.

3. Bring your hands just in front of your body, palms facing up and while taking a deep breath in, slowly pull the earth energy that you have connected to with the chord up the front of your body. When you reach the area in front of your chin, rotate your hands 180 degrees so that they are still facing upwards and breath slowly out as you now "push" this energy all the way up as far as you can reach.

4. With your arms fully extended above your head, breathe in as you open your arms so that you now are making a v-shape with your extended arms above your head, and imagine divine white universal energy now streaming down and into your energy field, filling your auric field with protective white light.

5. Rotate your arms so that your hands are facing out and while keeping them softly extended gently bring them down through your auric field, inviting and pulling this protective energy right down, grounding it below your feet.

6. Repeat this process at least three more times, each time, building and strengthening your personal energetic field.

You can use this process any time you feel scattered and you need to re-centre.

Please make it truly your own by following your intuition and adding to it, or changing it so that it fits you, because as always, when it comes to your own energy, you know best.

***If you want to deepen this practise you can .....***

- Go outside in a natural environment and face into the rising sun.
- Place a grounding/protective crystal like smoky Quartz on the ground in front of you.
- Add a drop of a grounding essential oil (think big tree like spruce, white fir) or all round protector like frankincense in the palm of your hand and rub into both hands before you begin.
- Spray Jody Campbell Kinesiology "Ground" and/or "Protect" Essential Essence above your head and let it drift down through your aura before you begin.
- Use an affirmation or set an intention for your practise - eg "Remaining Grounded is easy for me", or "I remain centred and grounded in my own energies", or "I am protected and feel secure in myself".

If you don't have a natural space, imagine you are in one, if you forget, visualise yourself doing it while driving to work. The more you build these energetic pathways, the easier they are to access. Be kind to yourself. Every little bit of positive energy, self talk and real time you give to yourself makes a difference.

Please feel welcome to share this information with others, or direct them to my website.

What happens in a typical Kinesiology Session?

What happens in a typical Kinesiology session?
Initially there is usually a brief discussion regarding the reason for the session.
Generally the client quickly moves to the table where the kinesiology really starts.  This is essentially sourcing information from the body via subtle muscle monitoring, usually around the presenting issue. This information may be discussed more, or the energy may just be brought into circuit and then cleared/balanced using the most appropriate method for that client.
While any muscle can be used, in my practice I almost always use the clients arm muscle as it is easily accessible.
The session may involve working with energy on or off the body.
A standard session lasts about an hour.
When working with children sessions are usually much briefer.

Kinesiology promotes self-responsibility and the client directs the session both through their muscle response and also through communicating their expectations and by feedback during the session.

What Causes Energy Imbalances?

4/21/2015

Just like driving your car causes wear and tear on the engine the human body and its energy becomes worn with age and use too.  We may experience physical symptoms like pain, or sickness. We may feel less emotionally able to navigate our life experiences or we may just notice our energy levels have dropped.
So just like your car needs servicing, the same goes for our body.  Kinesiology is like a service for your body and its energy.  It can show any areas that need attention and help get you back into good working order so that you can travel forward in the best way you can on this journey we call life!  It will make you feel good!

Specifically what can it help me with?
Stress - Trauma – Injury – Learning problems – Jaw pain – phobias – sleeping patterns – behavioural difficulties – addictions – toxicity -   bullying
For example if an individual experiences learning difficulties then over time they may develop negative beliefs in regard to themselves, a belief like “I’m not good at reading”, may cause the act of reading itself to act as stress trigger and intensifying the problem.

Kinesiology can help:
  • clear the stress
  •  identify the underlying belief systems
  • balance the energy
  • support the individual in their daily activities and challenges.
Kinesiology can give balance in your life - Jody Campbell Kinesiology
Anything that challenges us can create an imbalance in our energy and sometimes we need help to correct the imbalance.  Kinesiology can provide that help.
Kinesiology supports you by bringing you back to balance.
Kinesiology helps you to have the energy to help yourself.

It is gentle, effective and a wonderful way to support yourself and your children with the challenges in your lives.

How can it work for me?
  • As first aid – in response to an acute problem, a sore back, jaw issues, an incident at school, sleeping difficulties, low energy, bullying.
  • Like a service – to keep your energy flowing freely.
  • As a preventative or support when you know you will be facing a challenge or you have a particular goal you are working towards - eg to get you energetically prepared for - a job interview, mediation,  exam,  changing schools, or overcoming a phobia or long term debilitating fear.
  • Put simply….. it helps you feel good and function better.

“I invite you to come and try it for yourself. It really is a wonderful way to support yourself to live the life you want. It helps you get more of what you want and less of what you don’t want in your life.  Giving you energy where you most need it”.

How does Kinesiology work?

As science explains to us - Everything is energy – colour, sound, light, heat and what we think of as solid objects are really particles vibrating at different speeds.  How our senses perceive these vibrations creates our world.
Our reality is the result of our personal sensory interpretation of these vibrations.
Kinesiology focuses on energy and most importantly the energy contained within the human energy field.
Most importantly it addresses the flow of this life force energy.
Jody Campbell Kinesiology - How Does Kinesiology Work
Working with both over-facilitated and under-facilitated energy areas to bring balance and flow.  It is in this balancing of energy that an individual moves towards better health.
Kinesiology essentially makes a person’s energy available to them, for healing, for learning, for growth and for living.
